This is my initial reaction after I got the hair in the mail 20 minutes prior. I have since then been wearing the hair for 2 weeks now and I must say it’s GOLDEN! I’m reviewing the Premium Wavy/Curly texture in one 18-20 inch bundle and two 20-22 inch bundles. I haven’t had one problem with this hair so far and I’m amazed! Am I going natural?

Let me tell you about this wash process I had yesterday with 7 months of new growth on my head. I was so tired by the end of it; I had to take a nap! LOL! I respect everyone’s hair journey to natural hair but this 4b-4c texture is a whole other alien to deal with when coming from bone straight relaxed hair to tight curls.  I initially stopped relaxing my hair because my edges were on their death bed and something HAD to be done to resuscitate them. So I decided to not relax and wear my u-part wigs until they were long and healthy again. Well 7 months later I feel like I might as well just keep going all the way over to the land of naturals. I will post more about my journey and I thank you all in advance for the encouragement because I’m going to need it! HAPPY HUMP DAY!

THERE IS HELP! I want to get this message out to everyone suffering in silence. Mental Health Mondays will be all about the journey to healing.  We can manifest the most horrible, ugly realities in our minds and as time goes on, we can become trapped there.  How do you know when you have a problem? Where can you go for help? Who can you talk to? How does the healing process work? I plan on addressing all these questions and more.

I pray that this series will be a blessing to many and save lives.  I pray that I will become a better person because of it. Join me in my crusade to save lives!

Procrastination is bad, so I won’t do it again…time to get this blog POPPIN! LOL

So I have been wearing www.shesofinehair.com in the deep wave texture for about 4 weeks now.

Once again I’ve been fortunate to work with a very professional and nice company.  This hair is so much fun to look at and it’s durable…yes, durable. LOL! The strands in this hair are very thick and strong.  The tracks are not that long BUT they have a lot of hair on them so no stingy tracks here!

I think that overall the hair is nice but this texture is not one that I would wear on a regular basis, just when I need a fun change of pace.  I’m having a great time with a different look but the texture requires too much work to look nice for my busy schedule.  Ladies, please consider the amount of work you have to put into making hair look great when purchasing.  In order for the waves/curls to be defined, I have to wet the hair pretty much every day with a water/leave in conditioner combination. The hair is almost dry by the time I get to work but still.

The hair also gets really poofy when I straighten it out and wear it for more than one day. That’s a bad thing when you want to wear it straight but a good thing when you want big wavy/curly hair.

Another thing I noticed about the hair is that it’s wavy until you get the ends and then it goes curly.  I personally like for the texture to remain the same throughout the hair from root to tips though.

Bottom Line: Any deep wave/curly hair you purchase will require more than a normal effort on your part to keep it looking fab. If you purchase this hair to wear in its natural state all the time, then you will be happy with it. If you are trying to be versatile and/or efficient, this is not the hair for you.

Cooking w/ Carissa: Baked Whole Chicken, Roasted Red Potatoes Squash and Zucchini

For those days when you don’t have time to stand over the oven and watch the food. Baking allows me to set the timer on the over and forget it.

For this recipe you will need a whole chicken. Pre-heat your oven to 350. Season your whole chicken with a pre-made chicken seasoning or my favorite trinity of seasoning: Garlic Salt, Lawry’s and Black Pepper. Make sure you season the inside of the chicken as well. Set your chicken breast side up in a non-stick roasting pan. Cover with foil and bake for 40mins.

After 40 minutes, remove the foil and set your oven on broil. Place the chicken back in the oven on the middle rack and roast for another 20 mins.

For your red potatoes, cut them into chunky pieces. (yall know what chunky is! lol) Put the cut potatoes into a non-stick pan and season to your liking. I use garlic salt, rosemary and black pepper. Drizzle some olive oil over the potatoes and toss. Roast the potatoes with the chicken for the last 20 mins, place the potatoes on the top rack.

When you have 10 mins left till the potatoes and chicken are done, start your squash and zucchini. You can chop the fresh veggies into large pieces as seen in the photo. Season the pieces and put them into a skillet with olive oil. You will want to continuously stir the veggies because they cook very fast. Veggies should be done cooking in 3 mins.
